After giving a formative assessment the teacher pulls a small group together with same need and provides instruction through modeling and guided practice.

What does teacher do? The teacher provides skill based instruction to remediate, intervene, review, enrich or challenge student understanding.
What materials does the teacher use? The teacher uses any material that helps get the skill in front of the student; with emergent readers it may be the leveled readers (6 in set); with others it may be charts, overheads, big books, papers, their instructional books, an excerpt from a basal/book, etc.
What documentation does the teacher need? The teacher should document who is in the group.
The teacher should document the skill and activity used.
